The Datterino tomato originally comes from Sicily. The very small, elongated, deep red, shiny tomatoes resemble small dates in shape, which is where the name "date tomato" comes from. The real special feature of the Datterino tomato, however, lies in its exciting aroma profile and pronounced sweetness. It can reach a much higher level of sweetness than conventional tomato varieties. In order to bring out this typicality even more, Peter van Nahmen, together with the passionate spice miller Ingo Holland, developed the addition of a small dosage of salt. The choice fell on real "Sylt sea salt", which comes from Alexandro Pape's salt factory. Black Kerala pepper from Ingo Holland, Altes Gewürzamt, ensures a well-rounded taste experience and a fine spice.
